No-exam life insurance

Eligibility for immediate underwriting, how it functions, and what occurs if you do not qualify.

Several carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: applicants meeting age and amount requirements are evaluated using application answers, pharmacy records, driving records, and other information instead of a medical exam. Some approvals happen the same day. This site displays whether each quote requires an exam, might require one, or does not.

What it changes

Accelerated underwriting skips the exam but not the underwriting process. Applications are reviewed, answers are verified, and policies issued on incorrect information can be challenged in the first two years. If questions emerge from the carrier's research, additional testing may be required; you can choose whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Typically younger applicants (under age 60) applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated threshold, no significant health history, and zero tobacco use in the past 12 months. Some carriers accept current lab work from a doctor's visit instead of a medical exam.

An exam, when needed, is typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your home or office anywhere in the South Gate area, completely free. Exam results often improve your rate class for healthy applicants, so an exam is not necessarily a disadvantage.
